41, it’s a pleasure to meet you. I hope that together, we explode in beautiful and wonderful ways.
First of all, to begin our new relationship, you should know that I don’t like the term resolutions because it sounds like you have regrets, and if I try to do anything in life, I try to have as little regret as possible.
However, I do try to make goals for myself, and squeeze in new and richer experiences. What do you have in mind for me? I wanted to let you know what’s on my mind so that maybe you’ll help me along the way, and ask that I continue to reflect about how I’m doing.
Endeavor #1: You know how when you can’t do what makes you happy makes you think more about what makes you happy so that when you get to do it again, you are even happier about it? I promise myself to do more of what makes me happy. I’m getting pretty good at it and one of the things that I’m loving about blogging is that I get to learn from all of you about how to do that even better.
Specifically: Write, Travel, Exercise both indoors and outdoors, Experience music
Endeavor #2: Pay attention to the new number in my age-1. Have many great and new firsts! I don’t know what those will be exactly yet, but that is what I like about this one, its spontaneity. I have this goal each year and opportunities come to me and I take advantage. One thing that is always on my list is to go somewhere I’ve never been, both inside the state of Alaska as well as outside.
This past year, I went to a section of Southeast, Alaska for the first time as well as Peru. I’d really like to tackle Austin, Texas, another section of the Southeast in Alaska, and a country in Central America. We will see.
Endeavor #3: Work on my singing. I use to sing a lot when I was younger. I also use to play an instrument. Like many of you, I learned to read music in grade school, but I’m very rusty. While I’m addicted to researching new music, listening to music, going to shows, etc., I’ve let my own personal exploration of playing drop completely so I want to pick that back up again.
Endeavor #4: Research my career options, and try to figure out my next steps. Scary, yes. Challenging, yes. This is going to be good.
Endeavor #5: Continue my financial plan. It’s boring to write about that one, but I know what it is and I’m going to stick to it.
Endeavor #6: Volunteer more in my community. I want to either work with the elderly, become a Big Sister, or join an environmental group-something. I will investigate the opportunities that are around.

Here is some inspiration from Tom Robbins for myself as well as all of you out there that I got from another blogger:
“If you believe in peace, act peacefully; if you believe in love, acting lovingly; if you believe every which way, then act every which way, that’s perfectly valid – but don’t go out trying to sell your beliefs to the system. You end up contradicting what you profess to believe in, and you set a bum example. If you want to change the world, change yourself.” I haven’t read his stuff in ages, but I went on a binge reading his books for about two years a long time ago. This quote is perfect for me right now.
I wish all of you good luck with your own endeavors and 41, I look forward to every day with you.
Thanks for stopping by!
